Swarm
The Mix That Mixes Itself

Put one Swarm on each track and give them all the same Link Slot. From that moment your tracks talk to each other while the music plays — and get out of each other's way on their own. No master instance, no analysis pass, no automation lanes: just separation, alignment, cohesion and pan spread, applied by every track at once, exactly like a flock of birds keeping its shape.

Swarm interface — the live feature space with every linked track as a moving dot, surrounded by the force bars and the metering strip

The centre of the window is a live map of your mix: every linked track is a dot, yours is the orange one, and the dashed lines are the swarm's centre of gravity.

Your Tracks Negotiate, You Don't

Every mix hits the same wall. The guitar and the keys fight over the same frequencies, the vocal disappears the moment the chorus lands, and you spend the afternoon drawing automation, notching EQs and patching sidechains just to keep everything audible. Swarm gives each track four simple rules and lets them sort it out between themselves, in real time, while you listen.

↔️
Separation
When two tracks collide in the same frequency range, one steps back and the other steps forward. Like a dynamic EQ, except you never tell it where to cut — it finds the collision itself, and it moves as the music moves.
⚖️
Alignment
Tracks settle into a common level and breathe together. When one lifts, the others follow, gently. It isn't compression — it's a band of musicians listening to each other.
🧲
Cohesion
Pulls each track's tone towards a shared centre of gravity, so the mix sounds like it belongs together. Nothing gets flattened: a dead zone protects the extremes, so your bass stays a bass.
🎚️
Pan Spread
Tracks piling up in the same spot of the stereo image drift apart — guitar left, keys right, without touching a pan pot. Fully mono-compatible, and anything that must stay dead centre gets a Pin Center switch.

One Intensity knob rides all four at once. Start at 100%. Pull it down for something almost subliminal, push it to 300% if you want to hear the swarm clearly. Turn it to 0 and you'll hear exactly what it was doing.

Watch the Mix Untangle Itself

This is the plugin's own central view. Each dot is a track, placed by its tone (left to right: dark to bright) and its level (bottom to top: quiet to loud). Watch the pile in the low-mids when the swarm is off — that pile is the masking. Switch it on and the tracks push each other apart and settle onto a common level, all by themselves.

⚡ Lock-free shared memory — no routing 👑 No master instance, nobody in charge 🐝 Up to 32 instances per swarm

In the plugin, your own instance is the orange dot, the others trail their paths behind them, and the dashed cross is the swarm's centre of gravity. Two dots drifting apart is Separation doing its job. A dot climbing to join the others is Alignment. It's the rare plugin that shows you why it's doing what it's doing.

Everything You Need

🐝
Four Forces, One Knob
Separation, Alignment, Cohesion and Pan Spread, each with its own bar — and a single Intensity knob that rides all four from subliminal (0%) to obvious (300%).
🔗
Link Slots
Instances sharing a Link Slot form one swarm. Five slots means five independent groups in the same session — one for the rhythm section, one for the vocals, and so on.
📈
Live Feature Space
Every linked track drawn as a moving dot with its trail, the flock's centre of gravity, and your own instance highlighted. Click a peer to read who it is.
💥
Crest — Transient Designer
Per-track punch or density, driven by the measured crest factor. On already-crushed material it greys itself out instead of pretending to work.
🎛️
Link Params
Steer the whole swarm from one window: change Intensity or a force on any instance and every other one in the slot follows. Crest, Pin Center and Bypass stay local.
⏱️
Reactivity
How fast the swarm responds — glacial at 0%, bar by bar at 100%. 50% is the setting validated on three full mixes during development.
💾
Presets, A/B & Undo
Five factory presets — Init, Subtle, Wild, Spectral Only, Spatial Only — plus your own, with A/B compare and 20 levels of undo.
📊
Metering & Help Bar
In, out, gain reduction, crest and short-term LUFS (BS.1770) along the bottom — and a help bar that explains any control in plain English as you hover it.

If Your Low-Mids Are a Warzone

🎧
You mix your own music
And you'd rather spend the afternoon on the music than on twelve automation lanes that all say the same thing.
🗂️
Your sessions are big
15, 30, 60 tracks, and every arrangement change means re-doing the balancing work you already did once.
You want glue, not gluing
The cohesion of a mix where everything belongs together — without printing a single automation lane to get it.
🔬
You're curious
The feature space shows what your mix actually looks like from the inside. It's genuinely hard to stop watching.

It isn't a mastering plugin and it isn't a magic button. It's a mixing assistant that works while you work.

🍎 macOS users — installer blocked by Gatekeeper / AU not validating? Click here

The installer is not yet signed with an Apple Developer ID, so macOS will block it on first open with messages like "cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer" or "could not verify [the file] is free of malware".

Method 1 — System Settings (REQUIRED on macOS 15 Sequoia)

  1. Open System SettingsPrivacy & Security
  2. Scroll to the Security section
  3. You'll see the Swarm installer "was blocked to protect your Mac"
  4. Click "Open Anyway", then re-open the file from Finder

Method 2 — Right-click → Open (macOS 14 Sonoma and earlier)

  1. Right-click (or Control-click) the .pkg in Finder → Open
  2. Click Open again in the security dialog

Logic Pro shows "validation blocked" for the AU?

Until the bundle is Developer-ID signed, Logic's hardened runtime can refuse to load the unsigned AU. As a workaround, ad-hoc sign it and clear the AU cache from Terminal:

sudo codesign --force --deep --sign - /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Swarm.component
killall -9 AudioComponentRegistrar

then reopen Logic and rescan.
